Watch Parts
Watches consist of various parts, each serving a specific function to ensure accurate timekeeping. Some of these watch parts consist of:
Crystal: The transparent cover that protects the dial and hands. Crystals can be made of various materials, including mineral glass, sapphire crystal, or acrylic.
Dial: The face of the watch where the hour markers, numerals, and hands are. Dials can feature different designs and colors and may include additional functions such as date or chronograph subdials.
Hands: The pointers on the dial that indicate the hours, minutes, and sometimes seconds. Hands are typically made of metal and move by the movement.
Movement: The internal mechanism that drives its timekeeping functions. Movements can be mechanical, automatic, or quartz. Each with its own method of powering and regulating the watch.
Crown: The small knob on the side of the case for setting the time, date, and winding if it’s manual or automatic.
