How to Pick the Right Quartz Clock Movement

7

Choosing the perfect quartz clock movement for your clock project can be a daunting task, especially with so many options available. At Clockworks, Inc., we aim to simplify this process by offering an extensive selection of high-quality clock movements, tools, and services. Whether you’re building a new clock, repairing a cherished heirloom, or upgrading an old mechanism, understanding the different types of quartz movements and their applications is essential. This guide will walk you through the main quartz clock movements we offer and how to determine the right one for your needs.

What Is a Quartz Clock Movement?

A quartz clock movement is a battery-operated mechanism that keeps time using the oscillations of a quartz crystal. When an electric current passes through the quartz, it vibrates at a precise frequency, driving the clock’s hands with exceptional accuracy. Unlike mechanical movements, quartz movements require minimal maintenance, making them an excellent choice for modern clock projects.

I have a small desk clock that was handmade. there are the words ‘skp no jewels’ on the back of the clockworks. the post that goes thru the opening on the base is 3/8 dia and almost 1/2 ” tall (the screw part). the hands I have are in good shape to reuse. I just need the works. which are 2″ x 2″. uses a AA battery. can you tell me the one I need to purchase to replace the old one? thank you

I’d like to replace an Emperor Clock Company floor clock German pendulum movement. Do you have a suitable kit, that includes Westminster Chimes, and a swinging pendulum?

What are the numbers off of the back plate of the clock movement itself? If it is hard to get to, usually you can stick a cell phone up behind the movement and get a picture of the numbers. Or through the side access panel if there is one.

Not off the paper work, not off the wooden case, but the movement stamp itself

Hello James. I have a photo of the back of the movement, but I don’t know how to submit it. It appears to be a Jauch grandfather clock movement, and the only number I see on it is “77”. I’m actually interested in a quartz movement conversion kit.
Thank You,
David Tharp
